Earth Shake

I sat on the runway for three hours yesterday, then they told us to evacuate the plane. Keep in mind my flight was only four hours long. Eventually I made it back to Los Angeles half a day later. Delta should be teabagged for that delay. I was so exhausted when I got home i passed out. I woke up at 7am with tons of text messages asking if I felt it. Apparently I slept through a 4.4 earthquake at 4.04am. Creepy. I blame Delta. Earthquakes scare the crap out of me. Im from Philly you don't have to worry about the ground shaking violently. I might take a CERT class if i can convince one of my friends to do it with me. Today if full of the non glamorous things such as laundry, grocery shopping and unpacking. I should start since Waffle is gnawing on my ankle.

Have you ever been in an earthquake?!

Daisy Lowe

One of my new favorite people right now fashion wise is Daisy Lowe...or maybe its just this photo? First and formost your name is Daisy, that rules. She is the daughter of Pearl Lowe, the singer/songwriter turned textile and fashion designer, and Gavin Rossdale, the front man for the band Bush. Daisy grew up in London and has a pretty cool style. Im loving the outfit in this photo from Vogue. Mixed floral prints, chucks without laces, paint splats and enough eyeliner for days.

Who is your fashion muse of the moment? I have so many it shouldn't be allowed!

Sretsis Daisy Sunglasses

Sretsis daisy sunglasses are drool worthy! I think these are perfect beach shades..if only I could get my hands on a pair. I can't figure out what kinda sunglasses im going to be rocking this summer. The dreaded ray ban faze is over and I have been wearing my Alex Wang inspired cat wingtip shades all winter. I bought oversized cicle frams but I am not feeling them as much.

What style shades do you think will be in this summer? Or better yet what kinds are you wearing?

Wonderland

Today I finally bit the bullet and saw Alice in Wonderland. First an formost If I wanted to play a video game I would buy a Wii. I am not a big fan of green screens and computer animated movies. Im more of an old fashion person. I think Tim Burton kinda ruined it. If Sophia Coppola directed it I think it could of been beautiful. I think I miss old Tim Burton I feel like he sold out. Its nothing new anymore same thing all the time ..sad face. When I think of Alice in Wonderland I don't think dark scary and gothic. I think happy, visual eye candy and innocence. They way she made Marie Antoinette was brilliant. Oh wll you can't win them all. Im drinking a chai tea and doing laundry. I leave for Los Angeles in the morning. Soon as I land im going out to dinner with friends. Then I am sure I will be exhausted and procrastinating unpacking.

What are you thoughts on Alice In Wonderland?

Slaves Of New York

Since I am such a movie lover I thought I should start introducing you guys to some of my favorite films. I have a very odd taste in movies, I blame my mom. She would always rent strange indie bottom shelf gems that no one had ever heard of. By bottem shelf gems I mean the dust movie boxs on the last shelf that have never been looked at.. and as a result I would always end up loving them. That brings me to my point, i was clicking around Netfilx one night and came across Slaves Of New York. It was filmed in 1989 and is the perfect mix of 80's meets early 90s fashion. Its a comedy about couples in New York living in the drugged art scene while trying to make it. The main character Eleanor is a hat maker. She constructs them to look like chickens, ashtrays, monsters.. you name it. Its so quirky you will fall in love. This is the type of the fashion you might see while watching it.

By any chance has anyone actually seen this genius movie?

Darwinism

I live a very strange life. I trust no one. Its quite a sad way to live to be honest, I wish it didn't have to be like that. When you have been used, skrewed over and taken advantage of by everyone you have looked up too and trusted... you eventually become numb to it. I have a goal, and I will get there or die trying. I will not allow anything or anyone to stand in my way. When you love the industry more then anything and you make it your carreer it becomes your life. When people skrew with your life its personal. I had to pay my dues more then anyone. I worked for free for so many years. I have only ever been payed by two designers my entire life. I did so much for free for so long. I refused to belittle and degrade myself to get ahead. I am learning thats what most people do. Because of this I had to work twice as hard. I don't come from a family of connections or money.. Hell I didn't even know who Marc Jacob was until I was 18. All I knew is that I have been making things since I was old enough to talk, and thats what I wanted to do. The reason I am even on this subject is because I always try to help. I always want to be someone to lend the hand and support that I never had. I always think how much easier my life would of been if someone ever offered me something that wasn't more benifical to them then me. Everytime I try to be that person I get taken advantage of. Everytime I get taken advantage of I say I will never help anyone ever again. Its the endless cycle of my existence. Everything is a learning experiance and if there is one thing I have learned over and over again its this.. After you sew your neck up enough times you learn your either getting cut or the one doing the cutting.

My advice to you know matter what your goals are is this... Focus on yourself. If you don't no one else will. I spent so many years being ignorant and naive to the way most people really are. Grow thick skin and steamroll anyone who stands in the way of what you want.

I am not trying to be negative, I just meet and deal with some of the most horrible people you can ever imagine on a daily basis. I know that someone out there may be going through something similar and might feel better to know their not alone. This is a dog eat dog eat world.. and I am done being eaten.

This is not a post of negativity its a post of encouragement. Live by this quote. You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play it better than everyone else.

People are too weak to follow their own dreams and will find every way possible to try and discourage yours. It's a natural thing. Don't curse it; bless it, those are the people who make you work harder.

Cave Girl Wants Easter Eggs

I have decided I am going to have an Easter egg hunt this year. With cooler things then just candy inside the eggs. I think this all stems back to being thirteen. I have always loved Easter candy, bunnies and eggs. I have this memory of sleeping over my cousins house so I could attend the Easter egg hunt the next morning. We got there and I was so excited and they told me I was too old too participate. I had to sit on the fence with all the adults while watching everyone run around the feild picking up all those glorious glittered eggs. I think it scared me for life. Skrew You Im having my own and no kids are invited.

What do you guys think about Easter Eggs?

Detroit Rock City

I am back in Detroit after a long rainy car ride. I have two days left here. I just ate the worst salad of my life and attempted to take a B12 shot, then I got scared and chickened out. Maybe tomorrow I will grow some balls. I finished watching Lady Gagas Telephone video and im kinda disappointed. I think the clothing, makeup & hair was amazing as always, but the video didn't do it for me. It was Quentin Tarantino gone wrong. Although I have been in love with soda can rollers since Olsens did it a few years back. I got that leopard sweater at my favorite Philly vintage store for $15!

Persistence is the twin sister of excellence. One is a matter of quality, the other, a matter of time.

Whats your thoughts on Telephone?

Russian Roulette

Photo: Lauren Thompson

I ordered takeout sushi and im about to start packing. Philly you are my home and I love you but the time has come. Driving back to Detroit tomorrow morning and by Monday I will be back in Los Angeles. Today I got contacted by an Italian ELLE journalist about a story fon colored hair in fashion. The article is for the May issue! While eating tofu in the city I got the call about the order being placed for my line! Its a large retail store with hundreds of locations. It also has an online site that does overseas shipping. I will be doing tons of limited edition pieces with special packaging! I worked so hard for it and its all happening! I don't like to say too much incase i jinx it, But i had to share the news as its very exiciting. I am hoping to go to Italy with my boyfriend in June but for now I am content in Los Angeles. I can't wait to get home and work on all my projects. I love my job so much. Thank you to everyone who has stuck by me. I know my attitude, style, fashion and life has changed a lot over the years and I am so lucky to have all of you who continue to support me no matter what!

Ciao Love,

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Fall 2010 Bambie Style

I was browsing through Ny magazines runway section and I came across Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's Paris show. He has been one of my favorite designers since I first saw his work. He takes all the iconic and pop culture images and turns them into true wearable art. This year he channeled Bambie. What I would do to get my paws on that second dress...

Are you into these Bambie inspired garmets as much as me?

Creepers

I am really into creepers right now for some reason. I want to go down to South Street tomorrow and buy a pair from the old punk stores. Im not sure why I want them. In high school almost all my friends were punks and squatters..One of them is now sleeping in the basement of a pizza joint in San Francisco. That doesn't justify my sudden need for a pair but makes it more understandable.

To buy or not to buy the creepers!?

Today started out with tea and a better mood. I had to stop by Philly and have a meeting about my line. Its coming out so amazing, im so proud of it so far. I also did a few shoots, i couldn't resist. Im sitting at my parents house in philly looking at the hurricane of clothing I have created. Fringe Attack

I have fallen in LOVE with this Easter Fringe. These outfits make me want to dance around and eat chocolate bunnies and rainbow jelly beans. I must say I do love me an Easter Bunny. If I could date one I would. A boy in a mint green easter bunny suit who can not talk. Love.

Are you a fan of the fringe?

Welcome To The Real World

Today is one of those days where I am drowning in assholes. I feel like everyone around is making me insane. I wish I could just sleep until April, but thats not the real world. I am hoping tomorrow will be better. My entire life feels like Igby Goes Down, with me being Igby. Always has and im assuming it always will. I am coming to terms with that. Its to cliche to sit here and talk about being misunderstood, but people forget that all feelings and actions stem from something deeper. Imagine what life would be like if you could walk in someone elses shoes? I would walk in Dita's Louboutins but im being as literal as i can here. I am a human I have bad days just like everyone else does.

Good things come to obsessive-compulsives who fixate.

Do you ever feel like everyone is against you because they won't take the time to understand you? Im going to make popcorn and take a bath..the remedy for life!

Prada Cat Eyes

prada_fall_2010_tld

I saw this on the Lipstick Diaries and was stunned! These cat-eye spectacles are crazy, they almost look like angered-eyebrows. Yet at the same time...I am mysteriously drawn to them, despite their absolute absurdity. 60s mod is killer classic! But do you think people will be gutsy enough to wear them?

I need to get myself a pair or something like it. Maybe blinged out? Angry librarian or mod with a twist?
