German interview translation!Hey guys I finally got th translation for my German cover story!
She is sweet as sugar and currently a top notch star in the international fashion scene. But there is more behind Audrey than a beautiful face. For saar-scene Audrey told us everything about her exciting life. How would you describe yourself and what you are doing? You are a professional hair stylist and make up artist. These are jobs carried out behind the camera. How did it happen you became a model yourself? Is it true you became popular through myspace?
Yes I love doing hair extensions especially. I truly miss it, I wish I had more time to do them. I use to work with agency and do modeling gigs when I was 16. The tacky J.C Penny type ads you would see in the Sunday papers, those were the shoot I did. I won most photogenic at this huge model competition in New York City and we stayed in this crazy 4,000 $ hotel room. After that I went to hair school, experimented, found out who I was and what I wanted. I started taking photos for fun, all my friends were art students who had film classes so they would use me for there projects. It started out as a hobby. Girls ask me all the time how I got to where I am, my answer is if you have to ask it is not the right path for you. I believe if you truly love what you do and have passion and determination for it you will succeed. There is no right or wrong way it comes down to hard work and determination and not taking no for an answer. I have had hundreds of doors slammed in my face and companies who took me out on numerous lunch meetings to tell me I will never succeed. I wouldn't say I became popular through Myspace. The internet is an outlet, I posted my photos there for people to see.. I would say I became famous through my art.
You appeared on “Germany's Next Topmodel”, a popular model tv casting show in germany. Can you imagine being a main-stream-model? Is there any difference between the work of an alternative model compared to main-stream models?
That was a really crazy experience. I was feeling very sick that day and the call time was 4am in this huge hotel in downtown Hollywood. No one spoke English and I was passing out in the bathroom haha. To say the least it was very interesting. I would never want to be a agency model. I don't really even consider myself a model. I am more of a creater. I make the clothing, pick the sets do my hair and makeup and come up with concepts. I take images in my mind and create them through film. I don't take direction from other people everything is my idea. Agency models show up and are told what to wear and how to look...not really my deal.
You represent a very unique fashion style. Where does your inspiration comes from? Do you think that regular street fashion is in any way boring or lacking colors?t
Aw well thank you. I am inspired by everything around me, old movies, books magazines, hotels, people, clothing..Right now I am really into this vintage 60's look. Big black eyelashes, huge long silver earrings. Very Andy Warhol. I think Andy was a genius, there will never be anyone like him. I base my career path off of his. He did whatever he wanted even though the world was against him. I wouldn't say regular street fashion is boring, but I do think people think to inside the box and are scared to try new things. All the mainstream clothing out right now is so tacky and typical and people need to open there eyes to the possibilities! The sky is the limit when it comes to fashion. The more outlandish the outfit the more I want it.
The more popular you become, the more girls imitate your style. How do you feel about that? What advice do you have for girls trying to find their personal style?
I think it is amazing! Its like this huge army of Audrey's! I encourage girls to dye there hair and wear bows. It is really flattering to me they would want to emulate what I am doing. It means my message is getting across and people are taking more risks! I think it is rad to be inspired by me and dye there hair pink but at same time they need to have a flair of themselves. Think about what you like in life and show that through clothing is my advice. Don't ever be what you think you should. Be who you are.
What's your favorite dish, favorite music, favorite movie/series?
I am obsessed with Mexican food. I could eat it every single meal..oh and sushi! I am a Vegan right now. No dairy no meat no fish. It is hard but I feel great so it is well worth it. Favorite music..I like everything and anything. Right now some of the artists I am listening to are Velvet Underground, Dolly Parton, Jenny Lewis, Beach Boys, Bob Dylan and lots of French pop! This artist form the 60's Jacques Dutronc I can not get enough! As far as movies I love indie, foreign and documentaries. Igby Goes Down has always been my favorite movie. It reminds me of my life at 17. I was also living on the road running around New York City.
Interview: Markus Brixius Bilder: Nhat Nguyen
I think I did this one at 3am in the bathtub drinking sparkling water with lemonaid. Excuse anything obnoxious..it happends.
Do you guys like interviews or storys better? I feel like my blogs everyday are like interviews with myself in a way?
